We are from Şanlıurfa, Turkey. We want to start a Comenius Multilateral Partnership project. The project is about rules of good manners for children. Our school is very crowded and children have some problems - like how to behave to elders, to behave in society, how to behave themselves, etc. We thougt of improving their social skills. To cope with the problem we implemented a system by awarding them a prize. Whenever they show good behaviours they will be awarded a prize. Thanks to these prizes they gained the wanted behaviour. At the end of the project we think of presenting it in a newspaper, picture album, drama, etc.

PERCEIVING THE WORLD THROUGH DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS

1.    The Aim of the Project:

The main focus is to raise the awareness of the learners on their traditions, cultural aspects, interrelational skills and their reflection to the other cultures by presenting Turkish culture (each partners) with fine arts photographs.

a-) Perceptive Skills:

The aim of the Project is to make students aware of the changing siluettes of the cities and to mention the pros and cons of the outnumbered people who struggle in them. While doing so we try to improve student’s perceptive skills through workshop club which mainly includes pictures, postcards, slides and videos, short films.

At the workshop club we have specific themes such as; perceiving of culture & traditions, urbanization & rural life, feelings & individualism & social life. Geography, History and Literature will help in the name of social science; Language, picture and music will help as fine art. We will also use maquette for the dream city.

b-) Inquiry Based Skills:

We emphasize the awareness of students’ skills by self-conscious, the committee of collaborative competition will be created to have themes be discussed. The students will discover know-how skills, understanding of the tolerance, critical thinking and problem solving methods.

c-) Expressive Skills:

To improve this skill a multicultural exhibition will be done. The photographs will be displayed at the corners, e-bulletins will be prepared during the process of the project, web site will always be updated, and students will write on forum, the short film will be recorded.

d-) Progressive Skills:

The learners are impatient so there exist a non-stable atmosphere, they can improve their skills in process. we call it progressive skills.


All these will help students to improve their craft skills, non-verbal expression skills, improve their social relations, and their communicative skills through fine art.

All we have mentioned above will help students in experiential learning process.

The target group is: 15-19 age (high school students)

Strategies:

In and out of class activities: integration to the lessons such as geography, history, literature will be supplied through integration with fine arts,( photographs).  Every student could not be talented about writing or discussing but they can take pictures and improve their expressive skills, these students also could be disabled students, who can even make maquettes.

Experiential learning: To learn the students by experiences they be taken to the places where the changes happened in time. While comparing the pictures in the past and the present they also compare the culture and customs which have changed in time. To be a member of a society is another important side to be belongs to a culture and a country.

I am an English Teacher and a Project Coordinatior in Adana. Our school, Saimbeyli Atatürk Primary School, is located in Adana,

Our students are between the ages of 14-18. We have 350 students and 15 teachers. And all of our students and staff are eager to work on this Project.

Our school is located on the top of a hill in the centre of the city and public transportation doesn't wok near our school. Although we have some problems about transportation we have very successfull students. And our building is in a very good condition. There are data shows in almost all the classes and each teacher has got their own classes equiped with the materials of that lesson.

Dear Friends, We are group of teachers from Konya Karma Primary School. This year we would like to a Comenius Project but we are very new in Comenius Projects. Our school is an institution operating under the authority of Ministery of Education. It is located in Konya, Turkey in the middle of Anatolia. 

We have been providing primary education for the students from 6 to 15 years. Our students come from various social groups and therefore their motivations for learning are also different. This year we would like to start as a partner and in the following years continue as cordinator.

PREPARATION:
Reflecting on migration issues in your country

OBJECTIVES:

Participants will:
- be able to realize links and issues arising from migration
- obtain an overview of the European migration history
- get to know the Turkish educational system and have the chance to visit a Turkish school
- receive specific information on migration and diversity in Turkey - be introduced to and test exercises and material that can be incorporated in teaching in different subjects and grades (for pupils aged 10-19).
- learn to be aware of racism and get to know its different dimensions. - self-reflect by critically analyzing own attitudes and the power structures of society
- get to know examples of enquiry based learning teaching methods which are linked to migration topics

STRUCTURE:
The course will include lectures and workshops.
Participants will get opportunities for group work, for self reflection, for testing methods, for discussing with each other and sharing own experiences.

The introduced methods for migration learning are for the most part “active learning” based exercises, i.e. personal story, empirical approaches, questionnaires, interviews, video work, field trips, role play, pedagogical games, document analysis and so on.

We are a state vocational high school in Ankara / Turkey, affiliated to the Ministry of National Education of Turkey.In our school we have an Information Technologies Department, an Electric-Electronics Technologies Department, a Furniture Technologies Department and a Machinery Technologies Department.

We are going to present a Project to Turkish National Agency in 2010.The content and goals of the Project are given briefly below to inform you.

Between the years 2002-2007, with a donation of 55 million Euros from the mediterranean Fund, a project was carried out with the Turkish Ministry of Education and related social partners to improve the vocational and tecnical education in Turkey.

Many important results were obtained from this project related to the vocational education. One of the important results of this project is the foundation of UMYK (Institution of National Authority for Occupational Qualifications). This offical and independent institution has been trying to create its infrastructure.

The aim to establish such an institution is to develop the National Qualification System (NQS) taking the European Qualification Framework into consideration.

This institution has also started the process of creating the standarts of some professions with the agreements of various Professional groups, universities, labor unions e.t.c.

By the standardization of occupational qualifications, the education curriculum is being re-organised in accordance with the Modular System by the Education of Ministry.

Within the framework legislation of this institution, either the public or private institutions having the sufficient competences will be able to apply for in two different categories to do business.

These categories are;

Institutions of Education and Training
Institutions of Certification
So, by transfering the results of your project, we wish to get a mission from the Institution of National Authority for Occupational Qualification (UMYK) either in one category or both.

We like to realize our project both by examining the samples and experiences in EU on this issue and by the support of our national and local partners.

At the end of our project we aim to give certifications up to 4 levels in accordance with UMYK system (standarts) in the fields of,

Ø Machine Technologies

Ø Electrical and Electronic Technologies

Besides these, we aim to carry on our project paralel to the studies conducted EU-wide

on Professional Competencies; Certifications and standarts within the criterias of ECVET and EUROPASS.

In this context, the results (products) of our project will be the answers of the following problems throughout European Countries.
1) Classification of certificates to be given by UMYK (National Authority for Occupational Qualifications)

2) Preparation of theoretical and practical examinations for certificates.

3) Methods of preparing and updating the examinations for certificates.

4) Assessment of certificate examinations.

5) Members and their qualifications of the certificate examination commissions.

6) Preparation and assessment of the examinations for formal and non-formal training.,

7) Levels of European Qualifications Framework

8) Public and private institutions authorised to give certificates,

9) Validity of the certificates

10) Recognition of the knowledge obtained by non-formal training

11) Recognition of certificates given by occupational qualifications authorities by EUROPASS
