The Faculty of Education at the University of Cumbria is one of the biggest
initial and in-service teacher-training institutions in the UK. We use materials
and ideas developed in EU projects and our broad experience in teacher
training to help teachers to develop their skills and knowledge.
We are offering several different kinds of UK-based courses for CLIL teachers in the coming academic year 2009-10:
1.Active Communication in the CLIL classroom: A one-week course that includes school visits, classroom English and CLIL methodology. (Carlisle)
2.Active Learning in the CLIL classroom: A one-week “follow-up” course. This course is designed for teachers who have already attended the Communication in the CLIL Classroom course with us and/or a CLIL methodology course elsewhere. CLIL methodology, work on cross- curricular projects, learning styles and school visit. (Carlisle)
3.Science Methodology in the 21st Century Classroom: A one-week course run by Science teacher trainers and aimed at teachers who teach Science in English. Practical science, school visits, subject-specific/classroom language, local science-related visits and opportunities to network and share ideas. (Based in Ambleside in the Lake District).
