A nurse-managed clinic for elderly with a public institution status
was open to service under the name of "Bolu Governorship Elderly
Centre" in January 2008 as a model and a pilot study. This clinic is
a primary health care setting which supports elderly living in their
own environment, handles the needed services with an integrated
approach and facilitates making the interventions for the needs and
monitoring the elderly. The elderly are visited at their houses and
monitored and provided with primary health services by nurses under
the coordination of Abant Ýzzet Baysal University Nursing Department
in cooperation with Bolu Provincial Health Directorate and Social
Services Directorate.
According to the world population data (2006), the 15 countries with
the oldest population in the world, except for Japan, are in Europe.
For this reason, we are looking for real partners (academics,
nurses, public health nurses, schools of nursing, primary health
care settings, social services, etc.) that will transfer and support
innovation in order to see the European dimension and feasibility of
our project of nurse-managed clinic for elderly for the elderly
European population.
