Project title: Nursing Professional Practice Development (NPDD)
The motivation for this project is to develop efficient and safe nursing practice through practice development suited in different contexts. Emphasis is on the transfer of knowledge about successful practice development interventions, structure and evaluation of those.
Problem:  a) How can health care institutions effectively inform nursing practice and
b) how to create and sustain culture of ambitious development of patient care among nurses.

Topics to discuss (first ideas):  The definition of NPPD, objectives of NPPD, how to provide NPPD opportunities with emphasis on different educational strategies, structure of NPPD and evaluation of NPPD programs.

The objectives might be:
1. To have a common understanding of professional practice development in nursing
2. To learn and transfer knowledge about nursing professional practice development, it‘s structure and interventions in different health care institutions
3. Learn about or develop various ways to evaluate the process outcomes and patient outcomes of practice development.
4. To increase cooperation between health care providers and schools of nursing to prepare a common ground for nurses life-long learning.

Action: Form a mixed group consisting a) of those who develop and organize staff development at health care institutions and b) faculty from nursing schools from 5 European countries. Through mail and work meetings the group will form a "tool box" of efficient ways to provide nurses with opportunities of NPPD that meets the needs of patients for safe and effective care. All participants will add to the general and specialized knowledge of the topic.

We expect this project‘s activities to have impact on participants as they will learn from each other and stimulate thinking about NPPD. The participating institutions will benefit from the creation of an efficient and yet "individualized" plan of PD for the institution and the multiple interventions in the "tool box" at the staff development department.

Would you be so kind to publish on your website the attached Icelandic request for partner in partnership project?
